With the nice weather we were having, a lot of us forgot it was winter in Central Alberta. Lack of snowfall meant clean roads and less shoveling, and temperatures have been fairly mild although till below zero. All that has changed in just a few hours. The total snowfall isn’t very much, but it is quite a jump from what we had last week in Red Deer!

Central Alberta roads are in bad shape right now, snow and ice covered in many areas this morning. Please take extra care and time to get to work today. Blowing snow can make visibility very low, so watch out, especially around the snowplows.

There is a plus side for some people in all of this bad weather. All of those snow machine enthusiasts will be eager to get out there and use their toys. If you own one yourself, this is your chance to use it locally instead of going out west.

The weather is expected to remain much he same for Friday and Saturday, with a break in the snow starting Sunday. For a more detailed report on Red Deer weather visit  the Environment Canada Weather Office.
