Sunworks Home & Garden – Downtown Red Deer – Renovations Update

If you read our previous article about this unique shop (click here to read the first article on Sunworks Home and Garden), here is a little update on renovations underway at the store.

The upstairs is now mostly complete, extending the store by a huge amount. This gives them even more room to display items for your home and garden. A bookshop is also being added to Sunworks. This highly anticipated new bookstore is sure to be one of my favorite stops in Red Deer, and it will be located in a separate room in the back.

If you are looking for a Mother’s day gift, this is a great place to go. Can’t make up your mind what to pick out for Mom? Gift cards are available! Garden decorations of all sorts adorn the store, such as the gargoyles pictured here.

Also at the back of the store is the Harris – Warke Gallery. Now on display is the artwork of Susan Barker. This Red Deer resident has some excellent renditions of various oilfield scenes from the ’80s and on. For unique artwork of Central Alberta oilfield art, stop by and take in the display in the gallery.

Buy & Sell By Photo: Photo Advertising in Red Deer at Bower Mall, Parkland Mall and Online

Every day hundreds of Red Deer and Central Alberta residents rely on Buy & Sell By Photo to help them sell their car, home, holiday trailer and many other items. With picture ads on display at Parkland Mall and Bower Mall, as well as online, advertising with Buy & Sell By Photo can be quite effective at finding someone who wants your items. Each ad runs for 30 days at all three locations.

From a buyer’s point of view, the ads are also quite helpfull. You can browse them online, or at Bower and Parkland Mall when you are out shopping. If you walk through the mall, you will see the ad boards at one of the entrances. Boats, ATV’s, property for rent and more are all listed with photo in their respective category for easy viewing.

If you are looking for a used vehicle, or even a new puppy, it is worth checking out Buy & Sell by Photo .

Quenched! New Coffee, Cappuccino Bar in Downtown Red Deer

Ernie and I have been on the hunt for great places to stop for coffee in Red Deer. We have found another alternative to the fast food chains. Quenched! is located in downtown Red Deer just north of Ross Street on 50th Ave, and is open from 7:30 to 4:30 weekdays. As well, they plan eventually to open on Saturdays. Also in the future will be wine and cheese tasting evenings, so make sure you check back here to find out when they will begin.

What can you find at Quenched! ? Well, coffee of course! Fresh ground and brewed from gourmet beans produced by coffee companies such as Big Mountain Coffee Roasters. How about a

cappuccino (a drink made with espresso coffee and frothed hot milk) that doesn’t come out of an automatic hot chocolate machine? If you are looking for a real cappuccino or latte and have been making do with an artificial over-sugared concoction, go down to Quenched! and try the real deal.

If you aren’t looking for a coffee, Quenched! also has tea, smoothies, and bottled drinks. Don’t forget to sample one of their soups, a baked treat or one of their other dessert items. I think I saw cheesecake in the cooler…

Next time you are in downtown Red Deer, stop in and say hi to Will from the boys at Red Deer Digest. If you don’t have time to savour your coffee at Quenched! you can take it to enjoy on the go. They also have coffee beans for sale that you can use in the comfort of your own home.

If you enjoy books and would like to save money on your reading choices, stop by and say hi at The Red Deer Book Exchange.

The Red Deer Book Exchange opened in August 1993, and has been providing used books for local area book lovers ever since. They have books in hardcover and paperback, and carry children’s books as well as many categories of fiction and nonfiction. They accept good quality used books for exchange.

Their exchange policy works well for those who like to bring used books in for trade. Every book in the store has two prices clearly marked. One price is used if you have an acceptable trade in, and the other price is the cash price. I have been trading books here for years and am always happy with the results. Stop in at Red Deer Book Exchange and have a look at their selection of clean used books.
